Local Voices, National Recognition: ESD 113 Communications Team Earns National Award of Excellence

NSPRA Publications and Digital Media Excellence Award badgeESD 113’s Communications Department has been honored with the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) Award of Excellence in the Video Series category for their work with Rochester School District. This prestigious award recognizes the team for the impact and quality of work in creating a video series capturing the stories of three prominent Rochester community members who are changing the Rochester community for the better.

The National Public Relations Association is one of the country’s largest school PR organizations dedicated to advancing school PR and communication. Each year, NSPRA’s Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards recognize outstanding education publications and marketing/informational materials (print and electronic), video/TV/radio programs, social media, and websites. With a record number of entries this year, ESD 113’s communication team members, Liz Wuerffel, McKenna Bruner, and Seley Nemish, are honored to receive the highest award, the Award of Excellence, for their series of community profiles with Rochester School District. 

The award-winning video series “At the Heart of the Community,” captures the essence of Rochester’s vibrant community through a series of community profiles. The series introduces the viewer to a former student whose impact as an FFA member is still felt, a local business owner who has seen the transformation of the school district over the years and wants to continue helping youth through his work, and the school photographer who has impacted countless students at in the district all while capturing some of the most pivotal moments in their school career. Each story is a testament to the unique contributions and experiences that make up Rochester’s community. 

The team would like to thank Rochester School District for their partnership and the storytellers Robin, Mark, and Esther for giving them their time, stories, and, most of all, the impact and positivity they spread and continue to spread to the Rochester community and beyond.
