ESD 113’s Legal Services Cooperative is a valuable resource for member school districts, offering comprehensive support and expertise to navigate legal complexities. Our goal is to ensure that districts have the guidance they need to focus on their primary mission: educating students.

Members have unlimited access to our team of legal experts via phone consultations. Whether you have pressing legal questions or need immediate advice on urgent issues, our experienced professionals are just a call away, ready to provide clarity and solutions. If further clarification is needed, we offer written follow-up to phone consultations. This ensures that all advice and guidance are clearly documented, providing a solid reference for future needs.

Written questions receive detailed opinion or advice letters. Our responses are thorough, addressing the nuances of each query to ensure that member districts receive accurate and actionable advice.

We keep an eye on new or proposed legislation and regulations and provide insights for our members. This service helps districts remain compliant and informed about changes that may impact their operations.

We offer in-service assistance to member school districts’ administrative staff up to twice a year. These sessions are tailored to address specific legal concerns, provide training, and ensure staff are equipped with the knowledge they need to handle legal matters effectively.

Finally, writing policies can be challenging. We assist in drafting and reviewing these policies, ensuring they are legally sound and effectively address the concerns of our members.

Our services do not include drafting or substantially revising contractual documents; representing member districts before any hearing officer, arbitrator, judge, administrative judge, panel, or commission; or consulting on school board or superintendent conflicts.
