Threat Assessment

ESD 113's Threat Assessment Services identify concerning student behaviors before they escalate. Trained teams use evidence-based protocols to evaluate situations and create support and safety measures.

When students show concerning behaviors, we bring together school staff, parents, and community partners to understand situations and build safety plans. This supports students while maintaining safe learning environments.

Our approach identifies potentially harmful behaviors, connects students with support services, organizes resources, and maintains safety for all. We focus on specific behaviors and circumstances, not demographics, creating fair responses to each situation.

Parents participate actively in the team process. Assessment teams value your insights about your children's strengths, challenges, and behaviors because you know your children best.

Washington uses the Salem-Keizer Threat Assessment System, which provides a clear two-level approach to evaluating concerns.

Our Commitment to Student Success

Threat assessment connects students with needed support while maintaining school safety. This problem-solving tool recognizes that concerning behaviors signal underlying needs that students face.

Students succeed when we address concerning behaviors early, connect them with mental health services, create individualized support plans, and maintain their school connections.

Schools benefit from clear response protocols, expert consultation, community resources, reduced learning disruptions, and staff support for challenging situations.

Families gain partnership in the assessment process, community resource connections, access to needed services for their children, and open communication throughout.

Threat assessment strengthens school safety while ensuring students get support to succeed. Schools, families, and communities work together to create environments where all students learn and grow.
