Workers' Comp Awards Employee Safety Incentive Grant to 14 Districts

Personal protective equipment, hard hat, safety vest, gloves, and head phones

A safe workplace takes planning, the right equipment, and a commitment to preventing injuries before they occur. ESD 113’s Workers’ Compensation Trust is helping districts achieve this through their Employee Safety Incentive Grant.

Eligible Workers’ Compensation Trust member districts can apply for up to $5,000 to improve employee safety. Districts that did not receive funding in the previous grant cycle are eligible to apply, ensuring opportunities are shared across the membership.

The grant gives districts flexibility to address their most pressing safety needs. Past recipients have purchased trauma response kits to place throughout school buildings, improving emergency readiness. Others have added scissor lifts and extending ladders for their maintenance teams to replace riskier methods for reaching high areas. Districts have also invested in two-way radios to strengthen communication during emergencies, along with utility task vehicles and flatbed golf carts that allow staff to move equipment and supplies safely across campus grounds.

Each investment may look different, but the purpose is the same: reduce workplace injuries and support employees in doing their jobs safely.

By funding practical improvements, the Workers’ Compensation Trust helps districts take proactive steps that can lower injury rates, reduce time-loss claims, and create safer, more secure work environments.

Congratulations, recipients!
