TUMWATER — March 27, 2023 — After preliminary screening following state-legislated guidelines and initial interviews by the Capital Region ESD 113 board of directors, ESD 113 now has four finalists for the position of superintendent:
Learn more about the candidates by reading the cover letters, resumes, and essays they submitted to the firm conducting the superintendent search:
- Dr. Debra Clemens, superintendent of North Thurston Public Schools
- Ms. Kimberly Fry, professional development coordinator at Washington Association of School Administrators and former superintendent of Rochester School District
- Dr. Lester Herndon, superintendent of Tukwila School District
- Mr. Richard Staley, superintendent of Oakville School District
“All four of these candidates are eager to continue the process,” said Dr. Dale McDaniel, chair of ESD 113’s board of directors. “We look forward to engaging them further this Friday in four more rounds of interviews — with school superintendents from our five-county region, as well as ESD 113’s cabinet, staff, and board of directors.
The board was thrilled by the high quality of the large candidate pool. After the final interviews on Friday, March 31, they anticipate naming the new superintendent the first week of April.
ESD 113 is preparing for this leadership transition as Superintendent Dr. Dana Anderson has accepted the position of executive director of WSIPC, effective July 1, 2023.
