Danielle Bryant

Capital Region ESD 113 names a new Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Education

[TUMWATER, WA — February 7, 2024] Educational Service District 113 is proud to announce the appointment of Danielle Bryant as the new Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in Education. With a dynamic background spanning science, education, and non-profit work, Bryant brings a unique perspective and a commitment to positive change in our educational communities.

  • Bryant is originally from Witchita, Kansas.
  • She has a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Kansas State University.
  • She worked for a brief time in a science laboratory, but soon transitioned to more people-centered jobs in teaching and non-profits.
  • When considering the position at ESD 113, she recognized that DEI work was already underway and that change is possible. Working at an agency that was already on board with putting in the work made the opportunity exciting.

  • "Making change is important to me. Being at a place where teams can make that change and are willing to make that change is important. It took me my lifetime to figure that out." — Danielle Bryant, Director - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Education
  • "I chose Danielle for our DEI work because I thought her approach and personality would be a good match for our agency and our region. When I spoke to people who know her and had worked with her, they spoke about how she takes the time to listen carefully before trying to find solutions, think creatively in finding solutions to challenges, and her broad experience with many different communities and cultures. I look forward to what we can accomplish at the ESD and in the region supporting our schools.” — Dr. Flip Herndon, Superintendent

In her new role at ESD 113, Bryant is excited about the opportunity to foster DEI initiatives. Recognizing the ongoing efforts and potential for substantial change in the region, she is committed to making a lasting impact.

Bryant’s immediate plans include extensive engagement with various ESD programs and school districts in our region to understand their unique needs and to infuse a DEI perspective into their operations.
