Population Education, an organization which provides K–12 education resources on human population issues, is holding a video contest for 6th–12th grade students worldwide. Interested students must create a short video (no more than 60 seconds) about human population growth that highlights one of the following global challenges: sustaining water systems, ensuring economic opportunities, and improving climate resiliency. All entries must explain how population growth impacts their chosen global challenge, and offer at least one idea for a sustainable solution. 74 cash prizes of up to $1,000 are available, and the deadline for submissions is February 27.
Population Education provides curriculum and professional development, and their trainings reach 10,000–12,000 educators annually. The World of 7 Billion video contest, now in its ninth year, provides students with the opportunity to express their ideas creatively, and gives them the tools they need to advocate for the issues they care about.
